During Tuesday's Senate hearings on the confirmation of Secretary of State nominee Dr. Condoleezza Rice, former Ku Klux Klansman Robert Byrd said he was "dismayed" that his motives in opposing her have been questioned."I am particularly dismayed by criticism I have read that Senate Democrats by insisting on having the opportunity to debate this nomination have somehow been engaged in nothing more substantial than petty politics or partisan delaying tactics," Sen. Byrd said, his voice reportedly rising in anger.
